How it works

Three steps. The last one never ends.

Most custody products stop when your vault is created. That's where most problems start. Keystody is built around what happens next: the device that dies in year three, the backup nobody checked, the partner who doesn't know who to call.

Step 1 · 15 minutes, free

A conversation, not a commitment

No agenda beyond hearing what you hold, where it is, who else knows, and what worries you. We don’t assume the answer is a vault with us; sometimes it’s a single hardware wallet set up properly, or nothing to change at all. Afterwards you get our recommendation in writing, with a device list if you need devices.

You leave with: a clear view of what you need, and whether we are the right people for it.

Step 2 · shaped with you · quoted after the call

Nothing to change, or a setup shaped with you

Not everyone needs three keys. We recommend what fits your holdings, your devices and your family, and shape the work with you: one key, done properly, with a tested backup and a recovery plan your partner can follow; or three keys for a household, what we call a Vault Day, where any two can spend, you recover from your backup yourself, and your partner or child rehearses who to call and where the envelope is. One session or several, depending on your devices.

You leave with: a setup you have already recovered once, a recovery kit in hand, and a fixed price agreed before we start.

Ongoing · the platform

Kept healthy, year after year

Each key is checked on its device on a schedule. Backups are confirmed. The readiness grade drops before something becomes a problem, and you get a reminder, not a surprise.

You leave with: a vault that still works in year five, and a family that could still use it.

What you need

Two or three devices, and a decision about the third key.

Hardware wallets from different makers, so one vendor’s mistake can’t reach two of your keys. The third key can live on a third device of yours, or with a person you trust. We’ll tell you exactly which to buy. We don’t sell hardware.

What you don’t need

To understand how it works inside.

You’ll understand what each key does and where it lives. You won’t need to know what a descriptor is. If you want to, we’ll happily explain; it’s all in the manual.

What the call leads to

Either nothing needs to change, or we shape a setup with you.

Scope and time depend on your devices and your situation, so the setup is quoted after the call: one fixed price, agreed before we start. No hourly billing.

Already sound

Nothing to change

The call itself

Sometimes a single hardware wallet with a tested backup is the right answer, and you already have it. We say so, in writing, and that's the end of it.

You leave with the reassurance, our recommendation in writing, and a date to check again.

Something should change

A setup, shaped with you

At your home or online · one session or several

One key or three, one afternoon or a few sessions: we recommend what fits your holdings, your devices and your family, and shape the work with you. Every setup ends the same way: your addresses verified on your own screens, a backup you have tested yourself, and a recovery plan the people around you can follow.

One key, done properly
A single hardware wallet set up without mistakes, a backup you have tested, a written recovery plan your partner can follow.
Three keys for a household: the Vault Day
A vault where any two of three keys can spend, set up on your own devices. You make a first spend, then recover from your backup alone. Your partner or child rehearses the one thing they need to do. The first year of the platform is included.

You leave with a setup that works and that you have already recovered once, and a recovery kit in hand.

In writing, after the call

After the call you get our recommendation in writing: what you have, what we'd change, and why, even if the answer is nothing.

The Recovery-proof guarantee

Every setup ends with you recovering a test amount using only your backup and your recovery kit. If you can't, the day is free.

Also available, on request

Mentioned on the call when it fits. None of it needs a page.

Device replacement
A device dies or a vendor loses your trust: we replace the key with you, re-verify, and regenerate the recovery kit.

Honest answers

Before you book.

Not necessarily. If your holdings are modest and nobody else needs access, one hardware wallet with a tested backup can be the right answer. We'll say so, in writing, after the call.

Start with a conversation, not a commitment.

Tell us what you have and what worries you. We'll tell you what fits, even when the answer is "less than you think".
